Darden agrees to develop 37 restaurants in Mexico over 5 years with CMR

Restaurant operator Darden Restaurants Inc. said Thursday that it agreed to let CMR, a Mexican casual-dining company, develop Olive Garden, Red Lobster and The Capital Grille restaurants in Mexico.The agreement calls for CMR to develop 37 restaurants over the next five years.The company is expanding into emerging markets, which can be more profitable than established ones. It opened its first Middle East restaurant last month, a Red Lobster in Dubai.Darden's shares rose $3.39, or 7.5 percent, at $48.44 Thursday. The stock has traded between $45.76 and $49.23 during the past 52 weeks.
